“Less is More”, launched on the 14th of January, is a campaign to raise awareness of reducing plastic consumption. An Extrusal initiative aligned with the brand's values, which aims to raise awareness of environmental issues throughout the internal community, and consequently reduce the consumption of environmentally harmful materials, appealing to the reuse and use of infinitely recyclable materials, such as aluminum.
The social and environmental responsibility by which Extrusal has always been governed, was the inspirational motto of the “Less is More” campaign. Less waste, less pollution, less consumption of environmentally harmful goods to offer more to people and the planet.
“Less is more” intends to make the entire internal community aware of environmental issues. João Madail, Commercial and Marketing Director at Extrusal, says that this campaign makes more and more sense to start internally, “If we are concerned with developing sustainable solutions for our customers, awareness of environmental issues must start at home. It would be an antithesis for us to be defenders of the preservation of the environment, to have taken the first steps in favor of environmental issues already in 1997 (that is, more than 23 years ago), to be certified by ISO 14001 in 2002, and not to continually raise awareness with our entire in-house team for the consumption of reusable goods or infinitely recyclable materials.”
Thus, and to address the high consumption of plastic cups in the facilities, Extrusal offered each employee a reusable aluminum bottle for drinking water, accompanied by a leaflet with statistics on plastic consumption in Portugal and Europe. “We believe that when confronted with real numbers, from studies carried out by renowned entities, people are more sensitive.” argues João Madail. “We want to reach the end of 2021 with a reduction of more than 50% in the current consumption of plastic cups in our facilities. This is one of the first Extrusal initiatives for a more sustainable 2021.”
The company also intends to launch a challenge to the public regarding the “Less is More” campaign, so it will present more news on its Social Networks in the coming days.
